Winter tightened its grip at Wormit this week, but the fishing remained impressively steady with some great catches and conditions.
Cold, clear mornings and light westerlies have created perfect visibility, and the fish have responded with hard, clean takes for those fishing the right depth.
Despite morning ice on a couple of days, the loch opened quickly with the breeze, and sport remained consistent and often visual. Fish are sitting tight at 2–4 ft early doors before dropping slightly as the afternoon cools. Anglers who stayed patient with static methods under the bung enjoyed the best returns, with several double-figure bags recorded.
The water remains in excellent winter condition — sharp clarity, no disruption to presentation, and fish in prime shape. Winter at Wormit always rewards the methodical angler, and this week proved it again.

- Lee Chisholm – 12 fish. Six early on fabs & biscuit eggs, a quieter spell mid-afternoon, then five in the last hour on a pink cotton worm under the bung.
- Mark Petrie – 12 fish. Seven on a small black minkie on a 6 ft sink tip, the remainder on black & red buzzers under yarn. Two fish touched the 4 lb mark.
- Darren Barcik – 11 fish. Strong, steady action throughout the day.
- Iain Miller – 8 fish. Started at 2.5 ft on pink eggs before moving deeper. Finished on Dog’s Bollocks & white mop.
- Scott Wilson – 7 fish. Worked hard through early ice and a rising breeze.
- McDonald, Robertson & Thomson – 15 fish (4 hours). Excellent short-session sport across all pegs.
- Richard Wilkie – 7 fish. Clean, consistent takes and tidy presentation.
