π― Catch Highlights
- Raemoir Fishing Club: 61 fish landed between 10 rods β average of 6.1 fish per angler. Fish ranged from 3.5lb to 8lb, with every angler catching. Described as βoff the scaleβ and βa day to remember and repeat β 10/10.β
- Scott Pozzi: 10 fish landed in a varied and active session β fish were full of fight and clearly on the feed.
- Geneva Group: Corporate event with BBQ, drinks, and on-site cooking. While new to fly fishing, the team embraced the full experience and landed several fish throughout the day.
- David Ramsay: 9 fish on Thursday evening β rainbows between 2β3lb on small nymphs and FABs. A strong session despite a cooler breeze from the northeast.
π Water Conditions
- Temperature: 14.5Β°C βΒ ideal for active fish and strong returns.
- Clarity: Great β boreholes flowing and margins clear. Ideal for sight fishing and top-of-the-water work.
- Weed: No major issues β Lake Shadow still suppressing deeper growth effectively. Any floating weedΒ debris at the edges gets skimmed off, usually on windier days.
- Observations: Gutted fish contained high numbers of pond snails β a clear sign of rich feeding and a healthy ecosystem.
πͺ± Tactics & Top Flies
- Buzzers & Diawl Bachs: Size 12β14 on floaters and slow intermediates continue to score well.
- Hothead Damsels: Fast strips and figure-of-eight retrieves taking aggressive fish mid-column.
- FABs & Nymphs (washing line): Reliable all over the loch, especially in evening sessions.
π¦ Stocking Update
We topped up with 120 fish last week, averaging 3.5lb β including browns up to 8lb and rainbows up to 6lb. Another top-up is due shortly, including more heavyweights in the 8 – 9lb region to keep things lively.
