Loch Resting. Fish Ready. We’re Nearly Back.
Let’s call it what it was: a cracking week of fishing even with the filament about. But now, after a tactical breather, we’re 85% back to normal — and on course for full clarity in the coming days. We re-open Thursday 10th July for full dawn till dusk sessions.
🎣 Catch Highlights
Plenty of great returns across the board this past week — especially for those fishing a little deeper and slowing it down.
- 🏆 Lee Chisholm (Wormit die-hard) had 19 fish, fishing a mix of DI5 and slow intermediate lines with various flies doing damage — blobs, cormorants, snakes, and damsels all featured.
🗣️ “Quite a few on the dropper… fish to approx. 8lb and a nice bluey in there too.”He also added:
“DI5 proving the point that there’s plenty water under the weed — don’t write it off.” - 🎣 Davie Anderson and Steven Ross were both in among the fish, landing a tidy number between them, as always — consistent anglers and great to see.
- 🎣 Ewan Richardson summed up Saturday nicely:
“Slow to start till lunchtime — I had 5, lost 2. Mate had 2 and lost a load. He had one of the biggies in the corner. Boy that worked had 2 nice brownies too.”
All in, plenty fish to approx. 8lb, with solid browns in the mix and an average size still sitting around 4.5–5lb.
🌱 Weed Update – “The Final Act”
The filament situation is now well under control. What’s left is mostly dead plant matter floating in the top few inches, especially near the windward bank. It’s breaking down naturally now — no more growth, no fresh spread.
- ✅ Clarity below is excellent — proven by those catching fish on DI5s.
- ✅ The weed has collapsed and clumped — this is the endgame.
We’re staying shut until Thursday to give it the final push. Sun, wind, and time will do the rest. We’ve also done a bit of skimming and manual clearing to help it along. Expect prime conditions from Thursday onwards.
🛠️ Jetty Works Underway
Jetties have now been measured up, and we’ll be starting on the ones most in need of repairs first. Work begins shortly — thanks to everyone for their patience as we continue improving access and safety.
🔐 Memberships Incoming
We’ve had a lot of enquiries recently — which is brilliant. So to help manage things better, we’re introducing two membership options, both coming very soon:
