Wormit Trout Fishery – Membership Standards
To be read with the Main Fishery Rules & Guidelines.
These standards are not red tape. They are what keep Wormit quiet, well-managed and fishing at its best.
Core Membership Standards
- No Code Sharing
- Rule: Any approved member code is personal and must never be shared, loaned or used to book for anyone else.
- Why: Controlled access protects the water, prevents crowding and keeps the fishing first-class.
- Advance Booking Only
- Rule: Every visit must be booked online in advance using the correct booking route or approved code.
- Why: It lets us know who is on the water, keeps the fishery secure and supports stocking, maintenance and safety planning.
- Dawn-to-Dusk Day Sessions
- Rule: A full-day booking runs from dawn until dusk. No split visits or rod sharing.
- Why: It keeps the system simple, fair and built on trust.
- Barbless Hooks Only
- Rule: Barbless or de-barbed hooks must be used at all times.
- Why: Faster, cleaner releases and better sport for the next angler.
- Fish Care Comes First
- Rule: Keep fish in the net and in the water wherever possible. Use wet hands, handle quickly, and release fish cleanly.
- Why: Good fish care protects the stock, the sport and the reputation of the fishery.
- Respect Quiet Water
- Rule: No excessive noise, litter, closed-peg access or behaviour that affects other anglers.
- Why: People come to Wormit for space, calm water and a better day on the bank.
- Fair Use of Membership
- Rule: Any approved membership is for the named person only. Friends and family must book their own tickets unless agreed in advance.
- Why: Membership numbers are controlled to prevent overcrowding and protect the water.
- Breaches and Sanctions
- Rule: Repeated or deliberate breaches may lead to suspension, cancellation or refusal of future bookings.
- Why: The standards protect the fishery and everyone who fishes it properly.
Site Conduct and Housekeeping
- Parking: Use the anglers’ car park unless otherwise agreed. Blue Badge access can be arranged where suitable.
- Gates: Close every gate behind you.
- Hut: Leave the hut clean, tidy and litter-free.
- Litter: Take all nylon, packaging and rubbish home.
- Behaviour: Respect fellow anglers, wildlife, farm activity and fishery staff at all times.
Safety and Legal Notices
Fish at your own risk: Angling, bank access and jetty use are undertaken at your own risk. Eye protection is strongly advised.
Alcohol and drugs: No fishing under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Dogs: Dogs may be allowed at the fishery but must be kept under control and cleaned up after.
Data and privacy: Booking and enquiry details are used only to administer the fishery and related enquiries, in line with UK GDPR requirements.
