Your Fishery, Your Day

Private Fly Fishing Events at Wormit

Wormit Trout Fishery can be reserved for private fly fishing days, club outings, corporate groups and hosted events. Set on a quiet six-acre stillwater in North Fife, just a short drive from St Andrews and Dundee, the fishery offers a controlled, private setting for anglers and guests who want the water arranged around their group.

Exclusive use is not about making the fishery busier. It is about giving your party space, privacy and a more settled day on the bank, with no other public rods fishing alongside you.

Private and exclusive-use bookings can be shaped around:

  • Fishing clubs looking for a private stillwater day with controlled numbers.
  • Private groups wanting the whole water to themselves.
  • Corporate groups seeking a calm outdoor setting for clients or staff.
  • Beginners and mixed-ability groups who need tackle, tuition and hosting.
  • Visiting guests staying near St Andrews, Dundee, Fife or wider Scotland.

The fishery is stocked and managed for quality fly fishing, with rainbow trout, brown trout and carefully managed stillwater sport throughout the season.

Controlled Numbers, Better Fishing

What to Expect When You Book Wormit Privately

Wormit is managed around space, fish care and a quieter style of fly fishing. On standard open days, rod numbers are capped at 12 rods per day. For private and exclusive-use bookings, the structure can be agreed in advance depending on the group size, ability level and type of event.

Why controlled access matters:

  • More room per angler – guests have space to move, cast and work the water properly.
  • Less pressure on the fish – lower rod pressure helps protect sport and fish welfare.
  • A calmer setting – ideal for clubs, client entertaining, first-time casters and mixed groups.
  • Clearer hosting – the day can be structured around your party rather than public rod movements.

Wormit is a relatively shallow stillwater, with much of the fishing focused on reading the water, watching fish movement and using appropriate fly patterns. Lures are permitted within the rules, but the water often rewards anglers who are prepared to fish thoughtfully with buzzers, dries, nymphs and natural imitations.

For hosted groups, tackle, tuition, fish handling guidance and refreshments can be included by arrangement.

Tailored Private Fishing Days

Built Around Your Group

Every private booking is slightly different. Some groups want a quiet day for experienced anglers. Others need a fully hosted introduction where guests are shown how to cast, fish safely and handle trout properly. Some want catering, transport, photography or a wider Scottish outdoor experience built around the day.

Private bookings can include:

  • Exclusive or semi-exclusive use of the fishery.
  • Hosted fly fishing with experienced guides.
  • All rods, reels, flies and landing nets supplied where required.
  • Beginner tuition and casting support.
  • Catch and release fishing, with take-home fish options by arrangement.
  • Refreshments, catering or picnic options.
  • Optional add-ons such as photography, transport or local partner experiences.

The best private days are planned in advance. This allows us to protect the fishing, manage the water properly and shape the day around the people attending.

Ready to Book the Water Privately?

Tell us roughly how many people are attending, whether they are experienced anglers or complete beginners, and your preferred dates. We will then advise on the most suitable private-use, hosted or group option.

Because Wormit is kept deliberately low in rods, private dates are best discussed in advance.
