🧾 Weekly Summary
Another strong week at Wormit, with some excellent sessions had by those fishing early and late. The water is absolutely spot-on just now—crystal clear, sitting at a steady 17°C, and full of life. Mornings and evenings continue to be the golden windows, while midday heat has the fish taking a siesta, which is fair enough.
The jetties have started coming out for maintenance, opening up fresh water to fish from the bank. The fishery is looking truly lush—you’ll see this in the latest drone footage and margin pics. Plenty of fish clearly visible, cruising and feeding in the shallows. It’s a great time to be out.
🎯 Catch Highlights
Lee Chisholm had two cracking sessions this week: 8 fish on Saturday morning, and 7 more on Tuesday evening. His successful setup? Floating line, two droppers, and a weighted point fly to explore multiple depths. Most came to a Hothead Hare’s Ear, with takes also on Pink Shrimp, PTNs, and Sedgehogs.
Scott Pozzi banked a brilliant 17 fish during a morning session, topped off with a near 4½lb brownie. He fished a 3ft midge tip, with 15 of the fish falling to Diawl Bachs fished painfully slow. As he put it:
“The snails were overtaking the flies! Cracking morning until it hit 24°C at 1pm and they switched off. Lagoon and Concrete Point were the hotspots.”
🪱 Best Tactics
- Lines: Floating lines and short midge tips.
- Flies: Diawl Bachs, Hothead Hare’s Ear, Pink Shrimp, PTNs, Sedgehogs.
- Speed: Ultra slow—snail speed!
- Time of Day: Early and late sessions outperform the heat of midday.
- Locations: Concrete Point and Lagoon, but there are fish everywhere right now.

🌡️ Water & Welfare
Water temp is holding steady at 17°C, helped along by the boreholes running constantly to feed in cold water.
Clarity is excellent, and weed growth is well under control (check the pictures)—just a few floating weed mats left intentionally in place. These are absolutely stuffed with snails and fish sit happily beneath them, providing some surprisingly good and technical fishing.

- Drone footage shows how many fish are confidently feeding in the margins—always a great sign.

- Barbless hooks only
- Quick netting and keep fish wet at all times
- Keep photos in the net only
- Use a disgorger—don’t faff in the heat

- Take all litter and used nylon away with you—leave no trace.
- Watch your footing around removed jetty areas.
