π£ Wormit Weekly Report β Week Commencing 14th April 2025
Another cracking week at Wormit Trout Fishery with top-drawer sport, great company, and quality fish in numbers. Despite a few stiff breezes and cooler mornings, the loch delivered in style β and the rod average is still sitting comfortably well over 10 per angler.
π― Angler Reports & Catch Highlights
-
Scott Doig made his first return to Wormit in 25 years and was blown away:
βBeautiful day in beautiful settings. We had around 30 between the two of us, all straight-lining buzzers and cormorants. Excellent work guys!β
-
David Simpson & Brian Sutherland had a classic Wormit day, with 23 to the net between them and plenty more lost.
βGreat day, cracking sport!β
-
Dylan Thomas-Daniels and his team from Wales fished over two days:
βWarmest of welcomes again from Greig. We went naturals β Diawls early on a slow inter, fast inter and snakes later. Ended on 25 and everyone else had great bags. Fantastic fishery β would definitely recommend!β
-
Their Thursday group session saw 70+ fish landed between five rods, with Tony & family from England also having a stormer.
Floaters and Diawl Bachs were the go-to early, with intermediates and snakes doing damage later on.
Top fish came in at 6lb.
Massive thanks to Scott & Fred for helping out with beginners β proper Wormit spirit.
-
Craig Horsburgh added 15 to the net on Saturday β a regular showing consistency.
-
Junior regulars Harris MacLeod & Mack Thomson had a cracking evening, working as a team and landing multiple fish.
-
FS Doig & R Lumsden both finished in the teens.
-
Other notable returns:
-
Ryan Clarke β 2 fish, both personal bests
-
D. Anderson β 3
-
M. Tracy β 4
-
Fred Simeons β 5 fish on that scruffy sunburst FAB of his, fishing into darkness by the bench.
-
βFinicky fish near the burn mouth werenβt committing, but they switched on later. All taken near the bench into darkness.β
-
Mary Ann (USA), aged 81, closed her Scottish fishing adventure with a guided session at Wormit via Alba Game Fishing. She landed some superb fish under the guidance of Bob McAndrew β a brilliant way to finish a two-week trip. Hats off!
π¦οΈ Weather Report (UK Units)
Last week brought bright sunshine, cold starts, and the return of the easterly wind. That said, it stayed stable overall and set the scene for:
-
Consistent buzzer hatches
-
Evening surface sport in the calm
-
Air temps between 8β12Β°C
This weekβs forecast looks promising, with lighter winds and rising temps β expect buzzer sport to ramp up again midweek.
π Fishery Update
-
Bumper stocking: All fish between 3.5β6lb, hard-fighting and in top shape.
-
Rod average: Consistently over 10
-
Fish average size: 3.5β4lb
-
Clippings on the surface? Thatβs our grass carp, munching their way through early weed growth like machines. Great to see them up basking in the sun.
