🎣 Wormit Weekly Report – Conditions, Catch Highlights & Spring Updates
Another strong week at the fishery with some great returns, though that familiar spring spoiler – the east wind – made a nuisance of itself toward the tail end. That said, the rod average still sat comfortably above 10, with some standout sessions logged and plenty of hard-fighting fish coming to the net.

Cez Simeons landed 6.
- Craig Horsburgh landed 5 in his short evening session despite the biting easterly wind.

Youth Internationalist Harris McLeod dropped in for a short session and still managed a few cracking fish.

Darren Barcik & George were into them again – 20 fish for Darren, plus 8 dropped.

George ended the day with 15 landed, 6 dropped. The setup? A pineapple FAB with two size 10 diawls on a midge tip (wake saver) — deadly when fished right.

“The usual nagging spring easterly sent me packing for a change of scene. Rather than battle with tangles, curse at the waves and froth at the mouth, I booked a ticket for Wormit.
It’s been a while, and I was eager to see how the place is shaping up.
I’ll not lie – the sun was blazing and the east wind was hammering at my back, keeping temperatures down. Surface life was limited, and there was a long lull where the fish just switched off — but came back on in the early evening.
Wormit is looking tidy and, despite the conditions, I managed six to the net, lost another two, and had five or six other offers. All fish fell to a simple peacock herl black buzzer (top dropper) with green biot cheeks, or later to a rough sunburst FAB.
The fish fought like crazy — one tore the dropper clean off. Looking forward to the next one.”

🧠 Conditions & Tactics
The beginning of the week was solid — buzzer hatches coming off, fish up in the water, and takes aggressive. By Sunday, the easterly made things awkward. Still, those who adjusted (shorter leaders, smaller buzzers, static retrieves) were rewarded. Fish are switched on when the wind drops — especially in the evenings.
Effective lines: buzzer tip, midge tip, or slow intermediate
Best patterns: diawl bachs, slim black buzzers, sunburst FABs, and slim Cormorants
Water temp: 10–11°C
Clarity: Excellent, no sign of weed

Limited spaces available depending on how many rods are out during the day — I’ll always try to leave four evening spaces where possible.
